Éric Robin
Eric Robin was born in 1958 in Romans sur Isère in the Drôme. He lives and works in Salon de Provence.
He was introduced to painting at the age of nine by his uncle, a painter.
He worked as a window dresser for luxury ready-to-wear boutiques, creating his own decorations.
In 1992, he opened an art gallery in Salon de Provence, selling fine art materials and frames.
This artistic environment gave rise to his first creations and exhibitions.
From 1998 onwards, he developed an abstract work imbued with transparency and vibration. This work is obtained using the technique of oxidising copper leaf (gilding), which he has perfected over the years.
In 2015, in addition to his abstract works, he turned to other forms of research and expression, enabling him to create new three-dimensional works: crumpled paper. Each large-format painting represents dozens of metres of paper, carefully prepared and gilded, oxidised, painted, cut and folded. Then, with precise gestures, he crumples and glues in layers, creating a composition full of relief and subtlety, where the play of shadows accentuates the contrasts and fine nuances of transparency.
Today he exhibits in France and abroad in galleries and contemporary art fairs.
