As every year, the town council meets to vote on the appointment of a town captain to lead the Bravades to the town hall.
Every year since 1558, the Town Council has appointed the Town Captain. Once responsible for leading the local militia and protecting the town, his role has evolved over the centuries, while remaining essential.
Today, the Town Captain's mission is to oversee the Bravades de Saint-Tropez, a traditional festival that brings the town to life every year on May 16, 17 and 18.
2.30pm: meeting of bravadeurs, in arms, in Place de la Mairie. Town Council meeting at
2:45pm, to appoint the town captain.
3 p.m.: proclamation of the appointment on the town hall steps, followed by a procession of bravaders
and the delegation to the Salle Jean Despas for a snack given by the new town captain.
(PS: in the morning, the Rampeu celebrates its birthday at Sainte-Anne, followed by dances on the harbour).
