Learn to protect the ocean" educational tour
The 25/06/2025
The NGO Expedition 7th Continent is carrying out its educational tour "Protecting the ocean, you can learn it" in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in May and June 2025.
We'll be in Saint Tropez from Monday June 23 to Friday June 27 to meet schoolchildren, residents, tourists and other local stakeholders. By combining events, exhibitions and a visit to the schooner's laboratory, this tour will provide a better understanding of the challenges posed by ocean pollution on a global scale, encourage reflection on possible solutions and raise awareness of the contribution of scientific research in this battle.
The problem of plastic in the ocean is a global issue that requires a series of adaptations at every stage of the object's life cycle. Most solutions begin on land, at the moment of production and use. Raising awareness among the general public and mobilizing economic and political decision-makers are essential to reducing pollution and improving collection, sorting and recycling techniques.
The NGO Expedition 7th Continent will be in Saint Tropez from Monday June 23 to Friday June 27, 2025, with its schooner, as part of the "Protecting the ocean, you can learn it" educational tour. This year, the tour will take place in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Our tour aims to raise young people's awareness of ocean plastic pollution and the solutions available to prevent it. The tour is run in partnership with CITEO, a company with a mission to offer solutions for reducing, reusing, sorting and recycling plastic waste.
We'll be welcoming pupils from Saint Tropez elementary school from Monday to Friday, with 4 classes (around 100 children) per day, with the exception of Wednesday, which will be reserved for the general public and the port's partners.
In the educational area on the quayside (3 arbors), we'll be offering a range of activities, including a workshop on tracing the itinerary of an abandoned piece of waste, a workshop on the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, an interactive game on the long life of waste, time for discussion and reflection, and a signing of the comic strip "Le Monstre de plastiques" by Patrick Deixonne, founder and director of the NGO.
Aboard our 27m schooner, we'll take you on a tour of the deck and present samples from our expeditions for analysis under the microscope.
Tour times are as follows: 9:30am-10:30am, 10:45am-11:30am, 1:30pm-2:30pm, 2:45-3:45pm.
